Travis was born July 10, 1987 in Catawba County; he was the son of Carroll Dwayne and Patricia “Trish” Hughes Baker. He graduated from Bunker Hill High School in 2005, where he played football and baseball. He loved fishing and hunting. He was preceded in death by a son, Takoda Chilton Baker and his maternal grandfather, Leroy Hughes.

Survivors include his parents, Carroll Dwayne and Patricia “Trish” H. Baker of Taylorsville; brothers, Brandon Baker of Taylorsville, NC, Jerry Sigmon, Jr. of Claremont, NC and Aaron Sigmon of Claremont; paternal grandparents, Carroll Wayne Baker of Hickory and Linda Kaye Johnson of Taylorsville; maternal grandmother, Mona Lee Hughes of Conover; paternal great grandmother, Lula Hughes of Hickory; uncles, William David Hughes of Conover and Phillip Cavender of Nashville, TN; aunt, Monica Leigh Wheeler of Cherryville, NC; nephews, Jesse Cavender, Preston Hitchcock and Cody Wheeler; and God parents, Trina & Jerry Sigmon, Sr. of Claremont.

A service of remembrance will be held at 4:00 pm on Thursday, July 2, 2009 in the chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Hickory. The Rev. Scott Johnson will officiate and entombment will follow at Catawba Memorial Park in Hickory.

Pallbearers will be Angel Rodriquez, Sr., Alex Rodriquez, Angel Rodriquez, Jr., Billy Little, Aaron Sigmon and Jerry Sigmon, Jr.

The family will receive friend from 1:30 to 3:45 on Thursday at Drum Funeral Home in Hickory.
