Amber Alert Cancelled, But Search Continues For Zion Duprey

Search Continues For Abducted Del. Child

LINCOLN, Del. (CBS 3) ―

Delaware State Police continue their search for a child in an abduction case that forced the activation of an Amber Alert. At this time the Amber Alert has been taken down due to the fact that the suspect's mode of transportation is now unknown.

Just before 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Zion Duprey, 5, was taken from his home and police believe he is in the custody of his father Angel D. Duprey, 30, of Philadelphia.

Duprey is described as a 6'2", 165 lbs Hispanic male with brown hair and tattoos on his neck.

According to police Duprey drove to the 8300 block of Collet Lane in Lincoln, where his three children live with their mother and grandmother. Duprey is believed to have entered the home through the unlocked front door without notice and grabbed his five-year-old son.

The suspect's vehicle was located north bound in the area of Odessa at about 5 p.m. The suspect and child were not in the vehicle.

Reportedly, the grandmother was home at the time and attempted to take back the young boy but was unsuccessful. Duprey fled the home with his son in a blue 1995 Buick LeSabre with a white top and possibly bearing a Pennsylvania registration.

Delaware police warn that Duprey has an active protection from abuse order, issued in June of 2009 from the state of Pennsylvania which prohibits him to have contact with his girlfriend or their children.

Zion was last seen wearing blue jean shorts and a white t-shirt with a blue design on the front, if you have any information about his whereabouts please contact investigators at 302-856-5850 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333

I certainly wish they hadn't cancelled the Amber Alert. It helps keep the information in the public eye.

They really need to revise the Amber Alert system. Maybe have Amber I, which means a car identified so they can add the highway signs...and Amber II, which means a child is missing and in danger. I swear...too much politics and it creates more confusion and havoc for the public who are not clear on if a child is missing, or not. Right now a child in Washington should also be an Amber Alert, 10 yrs old missing from walking home from a friends. No Amber Alert issued due to no vehicle identified or witness to who abducted her. (if abducted). Maybe we should petition and rally my thoughts of Amber I and II.
